What to expect during your session | NYC Newborn and Family Photographer
/I photograph families in a more intimate way than the traditional family photographer. My art is not about showing how you and your family looks like but more how your family life looks like and how you feel in this chapter of your life.
The way I intend to capture my families’ connections is by avoiding uncomfortable posing, and instead I’ll guide you throughout the session, so that you don’t get overwhelmed; and ask you to interact with each other (not look at the camera and smile).
My at home sessions occur in the morning. Upon my arrival we will take a moment to chat and get to know each other a bit better. If I haven't had any previous contact with dad prior to the session day, I will focus on him and get him involved in the experience. If you have small children, this is when I’ll start building their trust (while my camera is still in my bag).
Then we will move to the room with the best natural light and I'll take my camera out. I’ll ask you to interact with each other and if you are nervous or overwhelmed I will direct you more. If there is more than one room with good light we might move to take a few photographs there too.
My at home newborn sessions are pretty simple too. I do not pose my newborns (you can read more about why here) and I don’t expect them to be either sleeping or awake. I keep my newborns in their parents’ arms for most of the sessions, where I believe they belong and my sessions are led by them.
I do not let my watch lead the session and I don't push my families, so as soon as I feel that we have reached the 'photo-shoot energy' limit I will stop shooting. Don't worry by then I usually have captured plenty of photographs already.

At the end of the session we’ll discuss the next steps and we can go through any questions you have with regards to the professional printed products I offer: mainly handmade albums, fine art matted prints and custom framed prints. The great thing about at home sessions? I’ll come to you, meaning zero travel for you and your family; and after a couple of hours, you can go on with the rest of your day.
